On the south west tip of Cheshire, off the A41, this venture was started in 1886 by brothers Frank and Samuel Reece who transported milk, cream and butter.

The creamery was one of the first to be built in the late 1940s to meet demand for Cheshire cheese. A more modern creamery was opened next door in 1990, to supply the multiples with a full range of territorial cheeses as well as Cheshire. The Irish food group, Glanbia plc, now owns Reece's creamery, keeping alive a Cheshire name to be proud of.

The Reece's brothers would be proud to see that this multi-national food group has just opened their Centre of Cheese Excellence. Here, six cheese experts have a pilot plant that replicates Reece's Creamery on a scale of one tenth. Major buying teams have the opportunity to spend a day making their own cheese recipes, which is then sent to them to taste when matured. I hope supermarkets acknowledge Cheshire skills and production on the label.

Available from multiples under their own label or Samuel Reece's name.
