Inglewhite is between Beacon Fell and the M6, where the pastures have all the characteristics of microclimate, soil and tradition required for making Lancashire cheese.

This is a success story for the son taking over from his father, Dick Rhodes to continue as a dairy farmer and cheese maker while diversifying into wholesaling dairy products to the trade with his own fleet of vans.

Their pedigree herd of Holstein cows produces the milk for the wide range of territorial cheeses and flavour added cheeses that they make. They are particularly proud of their Lancashire Blue, which is very difficult to produce with an even blue vein running through it. They also make their own butter. They have their own smokehouse where their cheese is slowly smoked over oak whiskey barrel chippings.

Goats and sheeps cheeses are also made on the farm with local milk delivered for the cheeses to be sold under the Inglewhite name.

Available from shops, supermarkets and from catering wholesalers.
